Meet the Artist
We are honored to collaborate with artist Soni López-Chávez, whose work beautifully captures the spirit of our conference. Through her art, she has woven together our theme with powerful imagery that reflects identity, culture, and community. Her design serves as both a visual anchor and an inspiration—reminding us of the stories, voices, and connections that bring our gathering to life.
Soni Lopez Chavez
“I was born in Cuitzeo de Abasolo, Guanajuato, Mexico, and immigrated to the U.S. as a child, eventually settling in San Diego. As a first-generation immigrant and artist, I began as an acrylic painter and curator in the city’s vibrant local art scene.
My digital illustration journey began in 2020 after my partner and I were forced to close our Art gallery due to gentrification and the COVID-19 shutdowns. In the isolation of lockdown I shifted to digital art, creating work that uplifts and empowers. Drawing from my Chichimeca heritage and bicultural experience, my art explores identity, resistance, and representation.”
