AHSIE exists to support the transformative work of the nation’s emerging and designated Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) practitioners as they seek to provide equitable educational opportunities to large and growing numbers of underserved populations, particularly Hispanic/Latinx/a/o/e and low-income students. AHSIE is rooted in a practitioner-driven approach, supporting those who are implementing change at the ground level. We partner with administrators, faculty, staff, program directors and managers who are grappling with implementing equitable practices that transform culture at higher education institutions.
This year’s theme, “Leading Con Corazón: Reimagining the Power of Servingness,” calls us to lead with heart, courage, and conviction as we reimagine what it truly means to serve our Latinx/a/o/e and low-income students. In a time when equity, access, and truth are being challenged, we are reminded of the strength of our ancestors, the resilience of our communities, and the responsibility we carry as educators to rise with boldness, clarity, and love.
Transformation doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in community. For over seventeen years, the annual AHSIE Best Practices Conference has created that community by providing a space where practitioners from emerging and designated HSIs come together to share knowledge, build partnerships, and lead change.
