Conference essentials

When and where is AHSIE 2027?

The 19th Annual AHSIE Best Practices Conference will take place March 7–10, 2027, in Seattle, Washington.

What is the 2027 conference theme?

The 2027 conference theme is Con Valor y Cariño: Advancing Educational Dignity.

Who should attend the conference?

The conference is designed for practitioners, educators, leaders, students, and partners working at emerging and designated Hispanic-Serving Institutions, as well as anyone interested in advancing the HSI community and student success.

What should I wear?

We recommend business casual attire and comfortable shoes. There may be walking and standing throughout the conference.

Registration & membership

When does Early Bird Registration end?

Monday, January 25, 2027, is the last day for Early Bird Registration discounts.

How do I become an AHSIE member?

If you are interested in becoming an AHSIE Member, please click here. This year, we are also offering the chance to purchase your AHSIE Membership at the same time as your conference registration purchase, and to receive the discounted member conference rate. You can visit the conference registration page to do so.

If I register now as a non-member and become a member, will I get a refund on the difference for registration?

Yes. You can get a refund for the difference between your non-member and member registrations if you are currently registered as a non-member and later become a member. The current membership plan runs from October 1st, 2026 to September 30th, 2027. Please email mkasa@designingevents.com for more information.

Schedule & sessions

Can I attend the Half-Day Institute Sessions on Sunday, March 7, 2027?

The pre-conference institutes can be purchased alongside a full conference registration here. There is limited availability for these sessions, so please register in advance.

When will the full conference program be released?

The full conference program, with speaker information and session dates and times, will be released in January 2027.

Is the conference schedule different this year from years past?

Yes! For 2027, core AHSIE conference programming will begin on Sunday, March 7 and conclude on Tuesday evening, March 9. Regional and State Consortium Meetings will take place separately on Wednesday morning, March 10. Please plan your travel accordingly and review the Schedule at a Glance for the full conference schedule and details. We recommend all attendees arrive prior to our opening keynote session on Sunday, March 7 at 3:30 PM. Please be sure to review all of changes on the Schedule at a Glance page.

Is there a networking event for first-time attendees?

We're thrilled to have you join us at the conference! Don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to other attendees, speakers, and exhibitors. Networking is one of the biggest benefits of attending. We highly recommend first-time attendees sign up to attend the First-Time Attendee Networking breakfast taking place 30 minutes prior to the regular breakfast start time on Monday morning, at 7:30 AM. First-time attendees will be grouped with other new attendees, and a “liaison” who can show the group the ropes and answer any questions you may have! More information on the first-time attendee breakfast will be sent out to anyone who denotes themselves as a first-time attendee in the registration system.

What is the weather like in Seattle in March?

Seattle in March is typically cool and mild, with average daytime temperatures in the low-to-mid 50s°F and nighttime temperatures around 40°F. March is also one of Seattle’s wetter months, so attendees should plan for rain and changing weather conditions and pack layers, a light waterproof jacket, and comfortable shoes.

How close is the hotel to downtown?

The Hyatt Regency Seattle is located in the heart of downtown Seattle, within walking distance of many of the city’s top attractions, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Pike Place Market is approximately 0.5 miles away, and the Seattle Convention Center and Link Light Rail are just a short walk from the hotel.

How far is the conference from the airport?

The Hyatt Regency Seattle is approximately 15 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). By car, the trip typically takes about 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic. The Link Light Rail provides a convenient option from the airport to downtown Seattle, with Westlake Station located about one block from the hotel.

Will there be transportation from the airport?

AHSIE is not providing transportation from the airport. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) offers a variety of transportation options to the Hyatt Regency Seattle, including light rail, rideshare services, taxis, and rental cars. Please visit the Getting to the Conference page for detailed information on all available transportation options.

Meals & attendee needs

Will there be breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at the conference?

Sunday: Cash bar available at the reception, no food

Monday: Breakfast and lunch will be served

Tuesday: Breakfast will be served along with a cash bar and light appetizers at the closing reception

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We have carefully considered a variety of dietary restrictions when selecting items for the buffets. All dishes will be labeled. We will also be sharing the menu selections in the conference app – which attendees can access a week before the conference start date. If you find that there is nothing on the menu that accommodates your specific needs, please let us know, and we will do our best to assist you. If you have a specific dietary restriction that requires special meal accommodations, you will have the option to denote this in your conference registration and the Designing Events team will coordinate with you accordingly.

Is there a private space for nursing or pumping?

A designated space will be available for attendees who need a private space for nursing or pumping. Final location details coming soon.

Vendors & sponsors

Will there be a Vendor Mercado?

Yes! AHSIE's Vendor Mercado provides an opportunity for attendees to discover and support unique businesses, artists, makers, and community vendors. 2027 vendor information and application to sell coming soon. The Vendor Mercado will take place on Monday, March 8 from 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM.

Will electricity be provided at my booth?

Power will not be provided at your booth. If you require electricity, you will need to purchase it separately. If you are interested, please contact mvanvugt@designingevents.com.
