18th Annual AHSIE Best Practices Conference
Leading Con Corazón: Reimagining the Power of Servingness

Submissions Due: Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST

The 2026 18th Annual AHSIE Best Practices Conference is scheduled for March 8 - 11, 2026 in Boston, MA. This year’s conference theme, Leading Con Corazón: Reimagining the Power of Servingness, calls us to lead with heart, boldness, and conviction. It invites us to reimagine the power of servingness, not as a checklist or compliance measure, but as a transformative ethos rooted in love, legacy, and liberation.

Servingness is the intentional and holistic commitment to not only enroll Latinx/a/o/e students, but to serve them through culturally affirming, equity-driven, liberatory and community-rooted practices. This theme challenges us to lead from our lived experiences, ancestral wisdom, and collective strength to build institutions that honor the genius and strengths of our students and the resilience of our communities.

In Boston, a city rich with history and activism, we gather to:

  • Lead with corazón: centering comunidad, compassion, responsibility to serve and relational leadership.

  • Reimagine servingness: moving beyond access to transformation and beyond metrics to meaning.

  • Elevate innovation and equity: through storytelling, scholarship, and shared praxis.

  • Build bridges across generations and geographies: to sustain the movement for educational justice.

This theme is a call to action for educators, leaders, and practitioners to lead boldly, love deeply, and serve intentionally.

Preference will be given to submissions aligning with this year's theme and conference message - Leading Con Corazón: Reimagining the Power of Servingness. AHSIE invites proposals that:

  • present innovative and transformative initiatives that accelerate equity in higher education through a social justice lens

  • demonstrate institutional efforts that resulted in scaling up and/or institutionalization and continued support for HSI grant activities by campus leadership

  • exemplify culturally responsive pedagogy, curriculum, policies, and practices that acknowledge the intersectional identities of a heterogeneous Latinx population

  • demonstrate use of equity-data analysis to evaluate the successes and challenges faced on their institutional path to taking an asset-based perspective on Latine/x/@ student success
